At the end of the week pedaling begins

The snow that was suppse to hit SB never did - but it has been chlly here. I haven't done as much riding while in Santa Barbara as I had thought I would, but I have found some good hills while here. I am looking forward to officially starting on Friday! Ready to get into a riding routine! Kate and I head to San Diego on Wednesday after we drop my parents off to start their journey back to England. Then on Thursday late morning I will meet the other riders for the first time. I am anxious to meet everyone and get started, not anxious to say goodbye to Kate however. I am so thankful to be able to follow this dream. Friday will be here soon!!!!!

I thought I left winter behind

Well I thought I left winter behind only to keep hearing that four letter word SNOW in the weather reports here. It seems that the current rain that is coming down in Santa Barbara may bring snow down to the 1,000 foot level. So much for riding in the hills for a few days before heading out from San Diego on Friday. Oh well, the best laid plans...

Bike in Santa Barbara...

Well my bike should be safely in Santa Barbara - where it will be put back together by Bruce at Hazard's Cyclesport.  I will fly in to San Diego on Thursday, drive up to Santa Barbara, and pick up my bike Friday  morning.  And then on to some outdoor riding!!!!!   It is snowing and we are expected to get up to 1/2" of ice today - here in Madison.  The snow is really coming down as I type.  It is hard to think of packing for warmer weather!

Three more days to finish things up at work.  How will it all get done????

Bike leaves today -- we hope

Well I never would have guessed that shipping my bike would lead to several sleepless nights. Currently my bike is being taken apart and boxed up by my favorite local bike store. The problem is that the box is too big to send by Fed Ex. I am nervously waiting for the UPS store to open so I can see if they can ship it. There ad says no box too big, but we shall see. When I put the dimensions of the box online, it says can't take boxes over 165 inches. Hmmm Hopefully by this afternoon - all will be well and my bike will be starting out to California!

It's getting closer!

Well March 3rd is just around the corner, so I thought I'd better set up this blog before I hit the rode.  I will actually leave Madison on Feb 24th though the ride doesn't start until March 3rd.  I am getting excited about the trip, but there is so much to do before I am ready to start pedaling.  I'd better get back at it!
